More bracketing on my Sony α7S

It’s a brilliant Sunday morning in Canberra with a few clouds and no wind. Yesterday I went out for a walk and played with the bracketing feature on my Sony α7S. This morning I set the menu to capture five images at a time with a compensation increment of 0.7 EV.

The bracketing allowed me to capture over and underexposed versions of each image which can be knitted together to give a high dynamic range. I like the way some extra clarity adds a little sense of depth to the image.

It’s the beginning of autumn and with the early golden light the trees look like they have autumn leaves. I love the golden colours that were brought out in this merged composite.

Like yesterday I imported the photographs into Adobe Lightroom, selected the bracketing series and the edited in Adobe Photoshop as an HDR merge. I then saved the image as a TIFF and edited in Adobe Lightroom.

I’m really enjoying the bracketing feature on this little camera. It’s so easy to use and the shutter actuations so quick.

In the gallery below if you click in the bottom right hand corner on FS (full screen) you’ll see larger versions of these photographs. You can hit esc to get back to the page.
