My first photography post

Hello there

This is my first photography post to this blog. I’m hoping this blog will be about my general photography including my  food photography. It won’t be focussed on food blogging though.

While I have no passion for a camera manufacturer like I do for cars (Mopar over Ford over General Motors) I have been using Nikon gear since my 20s when I was studying medicine and pathology in Brisbane. With the collection of Nikon glass (lenses) I’ve always just bought Nikon camera bodies. That said, I’ve owned Canon point and shoot cameras. I’m developing an interest in mirrorless cameras too and hope to get my hands on a Sony a7S sometime soon.

I started photography in earnest when I was working at the Royal Darwin Hospital and a member of the diabetic foot team with the late (and great) Ian O’Rourke (general surgeon and professor of surgery). I shot photographs of the damaged and infected feet. When I left Darwin I went through a photography hiatus until I jumped into social media and discovered the lots of people shot photographs of their dinner. So here I am photographing food and trying to expand as a photographer.

Please feel free to make suggestions to how I can improve the site.
