A walk around Lake Ginninderra with a focus on signs

The weather has been gloomy and I’ve had a lurgy. I decided I needed to move around to at least feel a little better in my head. I took a closer look at the signs around me.

There are signs all around that I hadn’t paid much attention to before except of course for the pedestrian and cycling rules on the walking path.

Autumn has started and the signs are obvious with amber and purple leaves forming on deciduous trees. There are some leaves on the ground but not a lot yet. It’s certainly starting to get cooler and I hope I can hang out until after Anzac day before I turn on my heating.

I was hoping to see more activity on the lake, lately there have been sailors in small vessels and lots of people stand up paddling and kayaking. This weekend I haven’t seen many people at all on the lake. There were some people walking but very few cyclists. The one cyclist I saw was pretty upset that he had to slow down for a few kids kids on the path alongside their parents. I’m surprised there are not more cyclist versus pedestrian accidents. It demonstrates a good awareness of Canberra residents to the need to be mindful of both cyclists and pedestrians.

I hope the weather will clear tomorrow so I can walk around the lake again.

  2. Thanks for this post. It made me aware that I don’t pay attention to signs around me. Been walking around in autopilot for too long. I’ll be more aware now.

Those little green birds are so pretty. I hadn’t seen them. Thanks for sharing them with us.
